You are invited to join me for cosy, a place to be warm and sheltered, and to warm and shelter one another as we in the northern hemisphere head into the colder, darker months.

Taking part in cosy will connect you with other people across the world. Through the postal service, shared practices, and documentation of our everyday lives, we will build a momentary community no less comforting for its transience.

You will receive five letters (mailed weekly; their arrival will depend on the postal service’s operations). Letters may include prompts for a noticing practice, scores for walking and looking, writing exercises, recommended objects and texts for your attention, ideas for making, and other devices meant to help you bring your attention to what is around you and where you are. The practices and devices will be made for low-stakes, low-commitment engagement with your artmaking, your writing, your looking, your thinking, your being-in-the-world.

If of interest, you will be connected with other members of the community to send a strings-free letter in a round-robin form (without the necessity of reply; these letters will be gifts of connection).

You will be welcome to connect with others in the group over social media as desired, but the main focus will be on sharing work and presence without screens. There is no compulsory online element.

Occasional, optional online meetings using jitsi will allow for quiet, contemplative togetherness in real time.

If you’d like to join, please fill out this form. The cost is $35, no matter where you are in the world, payable by check or money order only. (Participants located outside the US, we will figure something out.) Details of payment will be emailed to you after receipt of your form.

cosy begins November 24, but you are welcome to join on a rolling basis.
