MIDSUMMER / a class / Maine Media College + Workshops, Rockport, Maine

From June 20-24 I’m teaching a seasonal observation/observational practice workshop through Maine Media College + Workshops. (It’s in-person, with mask and vaccination requirements.) This will be a week of walking, looking, annotating, drawing, mark-making, color-tracking, land-listening, weather-watching, and plant-noticing as the days shift toward midsummer. We will make commonplace books, write, share readings, look at the sky and the ground, observe early morning quiet. This workshop will cultivate a warm, open, and supportive space so that you can freely extend your practice in new directions. Interested? Information here.

Poetry workshops, March-May 2021

I’m teaching three online workshops this spring, all via Maine Media College. In late March until early May, there’s POETRY RESTART, which is just going to be a lot of fun, a lot of generative exercises, a lot of community, a lot of encouragement. Ideal for anyone—beginner or practiced writer. The information for that is here. Then in May, I’m teaching an immersive course concentrating on the forms of the Western canon and then moving into an exploration of responsive form (forms we develop via attention to the world, our bodies, our language, our perceptions). Information on that here. Lastly, also in May, a short workshop on developing evocative texts for use in visual art. Information on that is here.
